Collections and Condos
In 1990 the Country Store became the home and responsibility of Tremont Historical Society. We renovated the second floor to accommodate our growing collection of books, photographs, and other paper memorabilia in a climate controlled space.
The Country Store Museum doors open to visitors during summer and autumn, and we host programs for schools and the public. Year-round, the museum serves as an educational research resource.
Across the street, after lying empty for a decade or so, the old Underwood cannery was transformed into luxury condominiums. Where men once shoveled boatloads of fish onto conveyor belts, and ladies in oilskin aprons chopped and packed them into cans, folks can now sip cocktails looking out on the glorious views of the still working harbor and its spectacular sunsets.
