February 4, 1980 Dear Mum and Pop All goes well with me, especially since Christmas when the Rev. Mn. Coffin brought me your message, Mum. Just what I wanted to hear. Since then, I have received 2 letter from each of you, all dated November. The mails are slow and not very reliable. Part of the problem seems to be more letters than they can handle. So, restrict mail to the immediate family. This is most important Letters from people like Mary Binney, however well-meaning, only serve to cut off important letters. This prisoner-of-war type activity is no fun. I'm sorry, Mum, to have inflicted in on you for a second time in you life. But, not to worry, This time in will come out all right. Of that I am confident. My morale is good. The treatment being accorded to us is remarkably good, too. Plenty of food. Plenty of reading matter. Opportunities ? for exercise, some of it outdoor. And a generally kindly attitude among The guards. My chess is Improving rapidly. And I am finally reading Gibbon's Decline and Fall. Best Love. Will write again M N.B.
