Letter to Louisa Kennedy from Mike Kennedy, Jan 11, 1980
Dearest Wee
January 11, 1980
I am writing this very legibly, at the request of
the censors. They are not English speakers by birth, and need
all the help we can give them, in order to get the
mail through in both directions. Type if you can.
Out mail man said that some of the mail is
not getting through. I have only received one letter
from you, dated November 13. One (the first) from Mum dated
November 18 just arrived. Some of the hostages have
received no mail at all. In my case, the wrong people
are clogging the circuits, and slowing things up. (I
did not need a very boring letter from Aunt Hope, dated
December 12.) I have received and deeply appreciate, very much,)
letter from Sandy (card darted December 10) Sheila and
Nick (December 22), Dicky and Diana, Mark, Phil, Gammy, Mais and
Pap. But the mail I need and am not getting is
from you, Mum and (and Pop) and the boys. Please, therefore, give the IWG
address to no one, and impose your will to ensure
that no one else outside This most immediate family group
write to me. Since the mail man cannot know who is
most Important, and since he can usually only process one or
two letter pet week per hostage, your letters
should be about 50 percent of the total, Mum and Pop
25 percent and the boys 25 percent Keep them
legible, and not too long.
Sheila whole that I would be very proud to
know all the things that you are doing. Even
without knowing, I can well imagine, You are quite
a person, and I love you very much.
Today was a good day in that we had
outdoor exercise, afterwards a hot shower and
a chance To wash our clothes. They have taken
my sheets off to be washed, for the first time.
These little things mean a lot. Also, they found
me a razor. After shaving, I looked at myself in
the mirror, and decided that I did not look too
badly: A bit thinner around the face, which is to
the good. I am getting plenty to eat, with
vitamin supplement. And all the books I need, which
is great. I have also designed, in my mind, several
new brick walks for the back garden, all with
fascinating brick patterns. Almost a mathematical
exercise. They will connect the enclosed porch, the
existing brick patio around the big Tree, the new brick
patio which I will to lay near the back drive, and
the existing brick walks.
They tell us that this letter will be hand
carried to New York. Let's hope.
I love you M
