Dear Mrs. Kennedy My husband (a retired Ambassador) and I (an ex-FSO) heard you tonight in your interview with Barbara Walters. You were so marvelous it brought tears to my eyes, and my husband and I both felt you spore more elo- quently of who the Foreign Service is, as its best, than anyone we've heard in years. At our last post, Rio, my husband was a constant terrorist target from 1970-72 especially. He came to feel about the situation the same way you feel, as you expressed it tonight, and we understand better than most how difficult your life must be, and how brave and intelligent you are, and - like the woman on this card how dignified and forever [[?]] you are of the pettiness and selfishness we read about all too often in the "Newsletter." At long last, I really feel the hostages will eventually come home. And how proud your husband will be of you. And how proud, we as a Foreign Service family are of you. You and all the other hostages' families, and the hostages themselves are our constant concern, as you all will be until the wonderful day of release.
