11x8.5 inch letter, 4x9.5 inch envelope
Envelope and paper are Alex. Brown & Sons stationary. The address on the envelope has been crossed out and Louisa's Washington DC address written in black felt tiped pen. Their is also a yellow sticker on the envelope from the post office forwarding the letter to the Department of State. The letter is written on James L. Van Alen memo pad in blue script.
