Ogden Lot - West of O.C. Reservations to Government
seventeen links;thence north one degree east one rod and
sixteen links to the first mentioned bound and contains
fifteen aores more or less.
TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the game, together with all
the privileges and appurtenenoes thereunto belonging, unto
the United States of America for the public good and for
the extension or improvement of said Park, forever.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF the said Hancock County Trustees
of Public Reservations, by Luere B.Deasy, its President,
has duly executed this instrument the day and year first
above written.

acknowledged the above instrument to be his free act and deed
and the free act and deed of said Corporation.

At the annual meeting of the Hanoock County
Trustees of Public Reservations held August 20th, 1929, the
following action Was taken!
"On motion duly seconded 1t was voted That all
the lands now standing in the name of the Reservations,
except a strin of land one hundred fifty feet bordering
the various lakes and their tributaries furnishing water
to the various towns except also a lot containing approx-
imately five ecres on Barr Hill and a lot where the Chem-
plain Conument is on the Cooksey Drive, be transferred to
the United States to form a part of Acadia National Perk,
at such time as the said United States of America may
accent the same, and that the President or First Vice-
President be and is authorized and instructed to make
and execute good and sufficient deeds to transfer said land
to the United States of America without money considerations
and only in consideration of any express or implied agree-
ment assuring the best and fullest use of the land in the
public interest as may seem to said officers executing said
conveyences satisfactory and in harmony with the Corpora-
tion's public service aims."

Dear Mr. Secretary:
At the request of the Arting Director of the National
Park Service two deeds from the Hancock County Trustees
of Public Reservations, and an abstract (in two parts)
of the record title to certain parcels of land proposed to
be donated to the Government as an addition to Acadia National
Park, have been referred to me for consideration and opinion
as to the validity of the title and the sufficiency of the
deeds.
Deed No. 1, dated March 18, 1931, covers a tract
of land commonly known as the "Ogden Lot" situated on the west
side of Otter Creek, bounded and described as follows:
Beginning at a fir tree the southeast corner of
lot now or formerly of William H. Davis and runs north
three -fourths degrees east nine rods and fifteen links;
thence north six and one third degrees west thirteen rods
and fifteen links to the south line of land now or formerly
of Julius Smith; thence on said line and thesouth line of
Julius-Smith; lot owned now or formerly by William H.
Walls, easterly seventy eight and three-fourths rods more
or less to a stake, it being the north corner of lot formerly
owned by F. and S. H. Rodick; thence on said Rodick line south
fifty one and three-fourths degrees west forty nine and one

half rods to a poplar tree; thence north seventy two degrees west
two and four fifths rods to a path; thence following said
path first north thirty one and three-fourths degrees west four
rods and eight links; the nce north forty two and three-fourths
degrees west three rods and nineteen links; thence north thirty
four and one half degrees west eight rods and three links;
thence north fifty one and three-fourths degrees west three rods
and twelve links; thence north thirty-three and three-fourths
degrees west three rods and twenty two links; thence north fifty
one degrees west five rods and five links; thence north thirty
and one fourth degrees west ten rods and five links; thence
north twenty five and one fourth degrees west seven rods and
seventeen links; thence north one degree east one rod and
sixteen links to the first mentioned bound and contains fifteen
acres more or less.

With reference to your letters of March 19 and 23
the following deeds, with the abstracts of title to the
land covered thereby, are returned herewith:
March 18, 1931 Covering the Ogden Lot west of Otter
Creek.
March 21,1931 Covering the Stanley Lot on Echo Lake
These deeds were accepted by the First Assistant
Secretary on the 24th and may now be recorded in the local
land records, and the abstracts of title brought down to
date. The date of expiration of commission of the notary
public before whom execution of
of the deeds was acknowledged
should be noted on the deeds as suggested in the Solicitor's
opinion of April 7, a cony of which was sent you on the 16th.
