Re: Fwd: Honorary Degree Recipient, 1924.
Hello, I have checked and we do not have very much on the commencement of 1926. There is
the yearbook and the commencement program, but neither gives any real context to the day.
I also checked our honorary degree file, and while many recipients have extensive
background materials in their folder, Dorr just has a slip of paper, with no statement of
why he was selected. This is the most official confirmation that I can find. So the
citation would be:

RE: Fwd: Honorary Degree Recipient, 1924.
Dear Ben,
Thank you for confirming this information from the Harvard Archives.
But I'd like to pursue the matter one step further. Does your information contain any
supplemental data regarding why he was chosen to receive this degree? Were there other
recipients that same year? Do the Folger Archives contain commencement documents that
would establish a historical context for me? Finally, I'd appreciate the authoritative
source for your informaton so that I can credit it appropriately.
Thanks for such a prompt response. I look forward to hearing from you.

Dear Ms. Rumery:
A month ago I emailed the research query below to your archivist requesting some assistance on a matter that
is important to my research.
It may be that the request was not received but it I have had no follow up to this inquiry about a man who
played an important role in the conservation of Maine's landscape.
As a professional courtesy, could you inquire and determine whether this information is in your archives
or whether I should be pusuing this with some other institutional repository. I'll be trvaeling to Bar Harbor next
week and could stop by Folger if this matter involves my review of archival files.
Thank you.

Following a visit to the Harvard University Archives Wednesday, I have learned that the subject of a biography
that I am writing received an Honorary M. Sci. degree from the University of Maine in 1924.
George B. Dorr (1853-1944), founder of Acadia National Park, is listed in the Harvard Archives registry
of periodic reports for the Harvard Class of 1874 as having received this degree from your institution.
Is it possible for you to validate this claim or to indicate where I might search on a future visit to Folger in order
