Dear Mr. Blair: Your letter of the second has just reached me. I am sure you understood from my letter of the 28th that the arrival of our landscape representative, and the work laid out for him at Lafayette, have merely been delayed, for reasons beyond my control. I had been trying to get him there at a time convenient to your own landscape representative, and am now trying to get him there by September first when Mr. Eliot will also be there. This may be impracticable because of the multiplicity of details arising in the western parks at the height of each park touring season that our landscape people have to attend to, but he will get there as quickly as it is possible to arrange it. Mr. Eliot and I have kept in touch, and I have talked with him twice since his return from Bar Harbor. Such plans and arrangements as your committee makes with him or through him are of course a strictly intra-committee matter, and I feel that I would be presumptuous in suggesting any course of action. I am, however, most hopeful that after our land- scape representative has had the chance to get his feet on the ground and his thoughts on paper, consultation and coopera- tion with your representative will lead to a report that will be satisfactory all around.
