Lobster is one of the most valuable fisheries in the United States, contributing $338 million to Maine’s economy in 2022. Lobstering is the cornerstone of many island and coastal communities, and in the past has proven itself to be one of the most sustainable and resilient fisheries out there, in large part due to the conservation efforts and hard work of Maine’s lobster fishers. However, Maine’s lobstering community is now facing a new threat: Climate Change.
