USA Peruvian Embassy Box 16277 Santiago 9 Chile Dear Louisa, For many weeks now, ever since we knew that Mike was being held one of the hostages in Iran I've wanted to write to you, to let you know how personally we are feeling this terrible, horrendous and despicable incident. Gustavo and I think of you a great deal and keep in touch with the American Embassy in Chile for any new information we do hope that things will work themselves out and that the Iranians will he made to see now ludicious [sic] are their acts in taking revengeane [sic] onto inocent [sic] people. We three are fine, soon to be four in the beginning of August After months of hormone treatment I pregnant finally managed to become pregnant Page 2 We had to move house again three weeks ago (our 4th house in The 41/2 yrs we're been in Chile) Our landlady got greedy and demanded a 100% rent increase. The price she wanted was just so out of proportion, especially consider- ing we were sent almost out of our minds with the noise of two constructions of high- rises right across the road, that the very day after receiving the news, I started an intensive house- hunting with the view to finding something and be in it by Xmas, ie 4 weeks from then. I was lucky and within an exhausting week of driving all over town, I found a lovely spacious apt. on the first floor of a two- storey [sic] bldg, with the owners (charming) living on the second floor. We have garden and garage, and the best is that we're paying just $20 more than the rent [(the ] (before the supposed increase) in the old house. So we're come out winning. The move has been Page 3 for the best in many ways, and as I planned we moved just before xmas. our house was just around The corner from Julie Fennermore's house, in a Street called Navidad We now live in a small street off Carlos Anturer, if you remember That street, in The Providencia area. We expect to he in Chile all through this year until January 1981 time at which we'll return to Lima for 3 years, Right now, we've enjoying a peaceful holiday in Fritillar a little German village on the shores of Lake Lanquime in the South of Chile, near to Osorno. We're staying in a family run guest house and enjoying it immensely Louisa, we hope you're keeping your chin up in these very difficult times for you. Knowing you I'm sure you are.
