Since then I have received nothing from you except for a most welcome group letter (just received) that you obviously inspired, and which referred to my moment on TV with Dr. Coffin. Of course I looked as it I had just come from my office of a cocktail party! Like the 19th century Englishmen who used to dress for dinner in the middle of the desert, I was determined to look my best at our Christmas party. That it was the only shirt and tie, suit etc. available to me didn't make any difference. Since then, my appearance has improved even more. One of our student wardens turns out to be a master barber, and he, recently gave me one of the best haircuts I have even had. I have access to an electric shaver. And so forth. The only real lack here is in the mail distribution. The last letter received from Your mother was dated December 20. They have promised a large mail distribution for today , and we'll see (Just got one dated Jan 22) As I have put in just about every letter, I want mail restricted to you 4 guys, your mother, and Nana and Gaqa. Occasionally from Mais and Sandy. But no one else, since other letters only cut off hoped-for letters from my immediate family. I asked Your ma also to cut off my old pal Diana Moxhay, who feelings seem to have been rekindled by my difficulty. I wonder how your Ma will manage that one? Maybe Nana could write Diana a nice letter, (Vaounde, Department of State) Meanwhile, my life goes forward in a most uneventful way, Fortunately, I have nice roomates [sic], and The guards assigned to us are also very nice. For example, I helped one of them with an English vocabulary problem, and he went our of hir way to get me an extra cup of tea, Most of them are exactly your age, and level of education. They all have taken an interest in the picture you sent me, of you, Andrew and Dunc and myself outside St. Mary's Church in Northeast Harbor They where pleased to see such a nice religious family.
