A MESSAGE FROM THE IRANIAN PEOPLE Dear People of America: Dear Fellow Citizens of a Just World: Have you ever seen your son's body roast sizzling on a hot iron bed? Have you ever heard the horrifying screams of your best schoolmate as his leg is being sawed off? Have you ever witnessed the heads of thousands of your fellow citizens explode with bullets? Have you ever received the news of your wife or sister's death under the torture of a broken coke bottle? No, surely not! Because even the sickest movie director has not produced such horrifying scenes in his thrillers. Yet the Iranian people witnessed all these and thousands of other merciless atrocities during the 37 dark years of the Shah's reign in Iran. Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlavi, who was chased out of Iran by our hero, Prime Minister Mossadegh, was brought back to power by the American gov- ernment in a coup d'etat set up by the CIA in 1953. Thousands of our youth (especially the most educated) were immediately killed. The Shah, the puppet of the Rockefellers and Nixons. or their agents such as Kissinger, have had one goal since then: Rob Iran and divide it up among themselves, killing, torturing and humiliating our people. Iranians lived in dire poverty and disease like animals in holes in the ground while the Shah and his family built palaces a few miles away and gave parties where their pets ate steak especially imported from Europe. It is regretable that the billions stolen from the Iranian people in this way were not at least spent for the good of American and European people. Instead, all went to the oil companies which swell their profits to the frustration of the American people by creating crises such as gas lines and subsequent price hikes even though only4% of U.S. oil imports are cut off owing to the Iranian crisis. A simple look at the 80% profit reported by the oil companies shows this to be true. Unfortunately, oil company profits have been invested by these same world leaders in the mass media SO they can lie, twist facts when it serves their purposes, and deceive the American people who have already suffered to make these leaders rich. Publications such as Time, Newsweek, Le figaro, and Spiegel are constantly falsifying the news from Iran, showing the Iranian Islamic Revolution as backward and chaotic. They introduce the Iranians as mobs all the time and Imam Khomeimi as a religious fanatic backed by a few armed men, trying to take all power into his own hands. The reality is that Imam Khomeini is a respectable holy man who has the vast majority of people of Iran behind him because he brought freedom, respect, and pride to Iran. The people rose up on his words because he speaks the mind of the people. They chose Khomeini as their leader and got rid of the Shah and the criminals from America and Europe who were supporting him by training an anti-nation army, Iran had 40,000 American troops secretly based in Tehran, along with 2,500 American experts and CIA agents, just before the Shah's downfall. 2. The American embassy in Tehran ruled over Iran for some 30 years by bribing and installing corrupt people in key government positions who then were constantly directed through the Shah. The embassies of the superpowers around the world carry on mild spying. But mild spying is quite different from ruling a nation from within the walls of an embassy and arranging espionage and the assassination of leaders. The mass media in the West show the Americans in the embassy here as innocent hostages held by the Iranian students, but documents found in this same embassy when it was taken over by the Iranian students prove that it was an espionage center. But none of these documents presented by the students at press conferences has been published by the misinforming newspapers in the United States. Instead, false accusations such as "students torture the hostages when they say goodnight to each other" have been fed to the American people by Carter to enrage them against the Iranians. Is killing and beating Iranian students in the U.S. America's idea of justice? Is it right to let American police dogs attack Iranians? The U.S. government officials who serve the rich capitalist oil companies accuse the Iranian students and government of "failing to observe the rules of diplomacy." But how can these same officials justify making fools out of the Iranian nation by sending supposedly respectable diplomats to Iran to extend good relations between the people of Iran and America when these diplomats turn out to be agents of the CIA who arrange assassinations and espionage in order to defeat the Iranian revolution. Can this be called diplomacv? The American government accuses Iran and Imam Khomeini of lacking respect for international law. But this same government welcomes and supports a criminal who has tortured and killed thousands of innocent people. Is this respect for international law? The Shah must be returned to Iran. He is responsible for countless atrocities and stole 23 billion dollars from the people of Iran. Under the rules of interpole and the precedents established at Nuremberg all countires that respect international law are obligated to extradite major criminals such as the Shah. The Iranian students who suffered under the Shah who was supported by the U.S. government have a simple request: Give us our criminal and take your people home.
