Great Machias Lake (also known as Big Machias Lake) is a large, remote body of water in Maine's North Maine Woods, known for its extensive habitat and popular hunting and fishing activities, including bear, moose, bird hunting, and fishing. Located in the headwaters of the Machias River, the lake is managed for its fisheries, offering chances to catch smallmouth bass, white perch, and pickerel. The area is also accessible to campers, kayakers, and canoeists, who can launch from the Machias Lake Dam Campsite.
