L. Bruce Laingen was the Head of the Diplomatic Mission, senior official, at the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, Iran when it was siezed by student millitants on November 4, 1979. Bruce along with 52 other hostages would be held for 444 days before their release on January 20, 1981.
