The Newlin Gardens, which serve as a gateway into the heart of campus, were completed and dedicated in 1991. These gardens were established by Elizabeth Battles Newlin to honor her husband, E. Mortimer Newlin. COA’s Elizabeth Newlin Chair in botany is named in her honor and her love for gardening.
