Barnstable Town (City of), Barnstable County, MA
City of Barnstable Town, MA. Located on Cape Cod, 60 mi SE of Boston; Barnstable County (US-T121). Settled in 1637, incorporated as a town in 1639. Named for the English seaport Town of Barnstaple, Devonshire County, because of the similarity of shoreline and harbor, especially at low tide (MA-T1/p7).
