The design for Mrs. Daniel Kimball's summer residence is attributed to W. Ralph Emerson; newspapers note that this was designed by Jarvis Hunt, but Hunt was then working as a draftsman in the office of W. Ralph Emerson. Another article notes that Westray Ladd (another Emerson employee) was involved in a house at Sullivan Harbor at this time, which further connects Emerson with this summer colony . Contractor was Aaron Gould.
