Acadia National Park HQ (historical), Park Street, Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, Hancock County, ME
The original headquarters of Acadia National Park, including administrative offices and maintenance facilites, was located on Park Street in downtown Bar Harbor. It is where George B. Dorr presided over early development of the national park. After passage of the 1986 Acadia National Park Boundary Legislation the property was transferred out of government ownership. The park office building was moved to the College of the Atlantic campus in the 1990s and enlarged to serve as the location of COA's museum of natural history. The former headquarters site was redeveloped as the Mount Desert Island YMCA.
