Construction of "largest dragger by tonnage"

This photo is one of a series depicting the steps of constructing the largest dragger by tonnage. In this picture, there is a crane to the left and the bow of the "Silas McLoon" on the right. Ralph Stanley said the Silas McLoon was a wet well lobster smack. Her hold was full of holes so they kept the lobsters in water. Silas was bought by Beal and Bunker in the 1950's. They plugged up all the holes and used her to carry hake which they bought at Cranberry Island and took the hake to Vinalhaven to the canning factory. Buster Rice of Cranberry Island was Captain at that time. This was about 1953.
