Official appointment of Georgia N. Somes as Postmaster of Mount Desert, Maine. Certificate notes that she was appointed on November 4, 1908 and executed a bond and took the oath of office on November 9. Signed by George v. L. Meyer, Postmaster of the United States on November 17, 1908.

Originally framed, but frame and glass were broken when fire suppression system went off in December 2006. Two punctures probably caused by broken glass.
