Blueberry Hill, Acadia National Park, Hancock County,ME
Blueberry Hill is a developed area situated at the southen end of the Schoodic Peninsula on the edge of East Pond Cove. The site was a destination for picnicking and berry picking for years prior to development by the National Park Service sometime between 1935 and 1940, although the precise date is unknown. Blueberry Hill as a placename does not appear to pre-date the park. However, a 1930 road plan shows an existing road (now the Alder Trail) descending from Schoodic Head east to the Blueberry Hill area. Character-defining features include close-up views of Schoodic and Little Moose islands to the south and east, and a glimpse through an evergreen canopy of the former naval installation with its distinctive French Norman revival building to the west.
