The Shingle Style summer residence was builti in 1881 and destroyed by fire in 1963. It was designed by William Ralph Emerson, a Boston architect, writer, artist, lecturer, and teacher. Mrs. Smith was the daughter of Samuel Lyon for whom the building was built and she occupied it in the summer of 1882. Contractor was W.A. Jordan.
