Acadia Mountain Trail (ANP trail #101) is a steep woodland and ledge hike that starts near the west end of Man O' War Brook Trail (#130) to the summit and then continues eastward down the mountain to end at the eastern end of Man O' War Brook Trail. Here a spur trail branches eastward from the main trail down to the water's edge to an overlook with gorgeous views of Somes Sound and the Man O War Brook waterfalls. This spur has stone steps leading to a pin in the rock at the water’s edge where boaters can tie up.The trail’s steep ascent has sections of pinned walls with steps built on ledges. Then the path continues up ledges, and over interspersed woodland until reaching the summit with expansive views of Somes Sound and the Cranberry Islands. Excellent views along much of the trail make the trail very popular.
