Proposal to the Town of Blue Hill

Oct. 3, 1797. To the Town of Bluehill, The Subscriber makes the following proposals, viz. 1. That instead of the five acres of land to be fell and cleared annually for seven successive years, the Town raise & pay to the Subscriber yearly before the 13th of July in each year the sum of forty dollars. 2. That within the term of the said seven years the Town construct and complete a bridge over ForeFalls, so called, upon the general principles of the plan presented by the Subscriber last Spring. These proposals being complied with on the part of the Town, the Subscriber hereby obligates himself on his part, in addition to what he has already offered, to pay annually to the Treasurer during seven years, one half of the said sum of forty Dollars, to be appropropriated for defraying a part of the expense of said bridge. That these proposals may be agreeable to the Town is the desire of , Gentlemen, your sincere Friend, Jonathan Fisher. Similar to other proposals in the archive collection. (The first proposal was accepted in 1798 per a letter in 2003.001.040).
