June 5, 1918.
Mr. George B. Dorr,
Cosmos Club,
Washington, D.C.
Dear Mr. Dorr:
Nathan Ash today notified me that he had an offer
for his land, about eight acres, situated near the rock crusher.
He said he promised you that he would not sell it without your
being notified, giving you the first opportunity to purchase. I
asked him if he would put a price on it and he said first to find
out whether you desired to purchase or not.
Will you kindly advise me as soon as may be.
Yours very truly,
AHL/MCH

Mr. George B. Dorr,
Cosmos Club,
Washington, D.C.
Dear Mr. Dorr:
I have today seen Mr. Ash and he tells me that
he has been offered $3500., for the land adjbining the rock
crusher, that it contains about eight acres. I have been
unable to learn who has made him the offer. Mr. Ash says
that he does not care to sell Appart, although he might sell
a part. but the price would be very much larger in proportion.
He does not care at the present time to say what the price
would be.
He also wished me to ask you to let him know as
soon as possible as he ought to give the other party an answer
right away.
Yours very truly,
AHL/MCH

Mr. George B. Dorr,
Cosmos Club,
Washington, D.C.
Dear Mr. Dorr:
The omissions referred to in your letter regarding
the Ash land were intentional. The same questions were asked
Mr. Ash. He desired first to know whether you wanted to con-
sider the purchase of the land, if so, he would give you the data
you ask for. He is now out of town. Upon his return I will
get the data and advise you.
In accordance with your directions, I have advised Miss
Chase that you desired to retain her on half pay through the
winter months in order to be sure to have her this suring and
summer. She now asks if I can tell her when she will begin to
draw full pay again. Can you give me any information at the
present time ?
In accordance with your instructions, I settled with her
in full to the first day of last January.
Yours very truly,
AHL/MCH
