Brook Lot. Geo B. Dorr to U. S. of A.
THIS INDENTURE made the
in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and twenty-
nine between George B. Dorr of Bar Harbor, Hancock County,
Maine, grantor, party of the first part, and the Secretary of
the Interior, for and in behalf of the United States of
America, grantee, party of the second part.
WITNESSETH:
That whereas, by Act of Congress entitle, "An act
to establish the Lafayette National Park in the State of
Maine" approved February 26, one thousand nine hundred and
nineteen, as amended by Act of Congress approved Jan. 1929,
the Secretary of the Interior is authorized, in his discretion,
to accept in behalf of the United States such property on
Mount Desert Island, in said Hancock County, including lands,
easements, buildings and moneys, as may be donated for the
extension or improvements of said Park, and
Whereas the said property hereinafter described,
consisting of lands and easements is all held in private
ownership by George B. Dorr.
NOW THEREFORE, the said party of the first part, for
and in consideration of the facts above recited, and of the
sum of one dollar to it paid bythe United States of America,
the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, does hereby give
grant, bargain, sell and convey to the United States of
America, all that certain tract or parcel of land situated in
the Town of Bar Harbor, Hancock County, Maine, and bounded
and described as follows, to wit:-
Beginning at a piece of iron pipe driven in the ground
on the southern side of the Cromwells Harbor Road and at the
northwestern corner of land now or formerly of the Bar

nine feet distant from a stone post set in the ground mark-
ing the southwest corner of Ash Street and Crawell's
Harbor Road; thence south twenty-eight degrees west ninnty
sight feet; thence two hundred twelve and one-half feet by
a regular curve to the right whose radius is four hundred
seventy-cight and three tenths foet; thence south fifty-three
dogrees thirty minutos west one hundred ninety-two and five
tenths feet; thence two hundred four and soven-tenths feet
by a regular curve to the left whose radius 1s four hundred
ten and three-tenths reet to a point marking the intersection
of Ledgolawn Avenue Extension thence by Ledgelawn Avenue Erm
tension southerly one hundred sixty-cight feet to the center
of the bridge crossing Cronwoll's Harbor Brook; thence north-
erly and casterly by the brook one thousand feet more or less to
a bolt driven into the ground at the southwestern corner of said
land now or formerly of the Bar Harbor Electric Light Company;
thence north fourtoen degrees east eighty-two and five tenths
feet to the place of beginning. Containing one and thre-fourths
acres more or less.
TO HAVE AND HOLD the same, together with all the privileges
and appurtenances thereunto belonging, unto the United States
of America for the public good and for the extension or im-
provement of said Park, forover.
