Dear Skip:
I am delighted that you have accepted work as a Volunteer-in-Park at Acadia
National Park beginning on or about May 1 and ending in late October. You
may plan to work at the Visitor Center every other Sunday. If circumstances
dictate, we can adjust your work period to our mutual benefit.
The Visitor Center is an attractive work area, but it can be very busy. Here
visitors can watch a film, browse bookshelves, review a gallery of photographs
that show the Park's natural and scenic attributes, plan their visit as they
overlook a large, three dimensional model of the Park, and of course, talk to
attendants (like you're going to be) about what to see and do in the Park. As
a volunteer, you will have the delightful and stimulating opportunity to share
with visitors the magnificence that is Acadia.
While working at the Visitor Center, we ask that you wear a tan or khaki shirt,
green trousers, and leather shoes. Short sleeve shirts are usually more com-
fortable in July, August, and September, but you may prefer long sleeve shirts
in May and October. Please affix the enclosed iron-on volunteer patches on the
left shoulder of your shirts about one-half inch below the seam.
A11 of us at the Park look forward to working with you, and we hope you will
enjoy your association with us.
Sincerely,
Tois
