Dear Ms. Gearin:
Last january (1.10.03) you responded to my inquiry concerning RG79, NPS, Acadia National Park, with a
foilder list of records in the Superintendent's subject file, 1933-42.
My research on George B. Dorr has led me in other directions since then but it is now time for me to examine
some of these files, specifically Memorandum, 1933-42, Personal lists, general correspondence (1937-
42), work reports (1933-42), correspondence, 1933-42, and Plans and Designs (1935-38).
I am also interested in the ECW and CCC progress reports, 1933-41 as well as
Am I correct that you have no Bureau of Public Roads holdings?

Would it be possible to set up a morning appointment for May 17th or 18th?

There are approximately 2 cubic feet of records in this series. I haven't looked at the records, and am
not sure if the "Plans & Designs" records include any non-textual materials. There is no indication
that there are any photographs.
Please contact me to set up an appointment to look at these or any other records which may be of
interest to you.

According to the NARA record of textual records located at your facility in RG79.7.1 for Acadia
National Park is the "Superintendent's subject file, 1933-42." Could you provide an additional
information on the content of this file?
For the past three years I've been researching George B. Dorr (1853-1944), founder and first
superintendent of Acadia National Park. Brooke Childrey (at the ANP Archives) and Michele Hiltzik
at the Rockefeller Archive Center have been extremely helpful in this regard.
I realize that I need to travel to Waltham to access these materials but I would appreciate some
indication of the scope of the records that are in your possession. Once I have a sense of the
dimensions of both textual and non-textual materials then I can better plan several day trips later in
January.
Thank you.
