Dear Andrew,
I contacted you more than a year ago regarding access to the Julia Dorr Papers on the recommendation of
Joanne Schneider. At that time I was unable to make the trip to Middlebury but now find that I am
presenting at the Associated Vermont Independent Colleges Summit being held at Middlebury on the 10th.
I'd like to spend some time reviewing these manuscripts to determine the relationship-if any-between
her and George Bucknam Dorr, founder of Acadia National Park. I've spent the last five years in archival
research on Mr. Dorr for a biography that I am presently writing.
Would it be possible for me to visit Special Collections when I can break free sometime between 2 and 3
p.m?
Thank you.

RE: Julia Dorr Papers
Dear Andrew,
Campus politics prevented me from responding in late August to your assistance with the
Julia Dorr Papers. In the interim have you been able to examine the finding aid to
determnine whether there are any references to George Bucknam Dorr, his parents Charles
and Mary Gray Ward Dorr, or the Ward family of Salem Massachusetts? Depending on what yuou
discover I may wish to try to arrange a visit in October to examine these materials. Thank
you.

Dear Mr. Epp,
I'm assuming you received my Out-of-Office message in response to your email. If not, I am
at the Society of AmericanArchivists Annual Meeting in Boston through the week and then on
vacation for two weeks for a rest after our two-month move to our new library, during
which time Special Collections was not open for public service. We are now open and, if
you can't wait until the week of Auigust 23, when I will be back in the office, please
contact my associate Danielle Rougeau, who will be at work tomorrow, Wednesday, August 11,
after 1 p.m. She is not as familiar with the Julia Dorr papers, but I'm sure she will be
able to help you. Perhaps you can give her a call at 802-443-5634, and I will copy her on
this message.
If you decide to wait until the week of August 23, I look forward to meeting you. But,
before you plan your trip, I will ask Danielle to check the finding aid for correspondence
related to George Bucknam Dorr.
Thank you for your interest in Special Collections at Middlebury College.

Dear Mr. Wentink:
On July 1st I emailed you (see below) regarding the Julia Dorr Papers. Perhaps the
message was lost in cyberspace. I am considering a visit to Middlebury in the weeks ahead
and would appreciate a response. Thanks.

Dear Mr. Wentink:
Joanne Schneider suggested that I contact you regarding my interest in the seven
boxes of manuscripts that comprise your Julia Caroline Ripley Dorr Papers. I have pulled
the record off MIDCAT and wonder whether it would be possible for me to secure a copy of
the finding aid.
I am trying to determine whether the content might be relevant to my research for a
biography of George Bucknam Dorr (1853-1944), founder of Acadia National Park.
If there are any special access provisions that I should be aware of in advance of a
visit to Middlebury, please let me know.
Thank you!
