Letter from George Lauriat to Dorothy Macfarlan

Scan of letter from George Lauriat (Southwest Harbor attorney) to Dorothy C. Macfarlan, dated 7 December 1963. (Dorothy C was donor's mother who lived at 101 Church Street, Ardmore Pennsylvania) discussion with Captain Richie Stanley about the enclosed copy of a deed (not with this letter this date) for two pieces of property on the west side of the main road. Mickey related that the house on this property was torn down, stood next to Mickey's house. (It had a pool table (pool table may have wound up in fire station). The little parcel is shown on Mickey's property map with annotations by him 2014, and the property mentioned in this letter was referred to as the "library" piece. Not sure why they call it the library but Mickey recalls there were books stamped with Cranberry library. Mickey bought the property from Richey Stanley (who lived in Ruth Westphal's house). Richey got it from Jimmy Stanley (Ralph Stanley's uncle or great uncle) - same fellow for whom Jimmy's Point was named, who had possession of it 1930 to 1963. He was given it by his uncle William D. Stanley (who lived in Southwest Harbor - where Ralph Stanley lives now?) Jimmy lived on Jimmy's point until early 1930s. Arno Stanley lived where transfer station on GCIHS is now. Arno was brother to Jimmy and Lewis Stanley. Arno had a son named Chester who was born here on GCI; he moved off late 1920s. He was lobsterman, fishing out of SWH. In 1929, Chester and wife (x) had 8 kids, Ralph Stanley was the oldest. One of Ralph's youngest sisters was Phil Whitney's babysitter. Letter was loaned, scanned and returned to Mickey Macfarlan
