eighty. six years. His wife, Sara, onl. daugh-
ter of Col. Arthur Noble, died Nov. 11, 1807,
at the age of eighty-two. They had ten chii-
dren, all born at Forts Richmond and Hall-
fax on the Kennebec. Robert Lithgow. fa
ther of Col. William Lithgow, settled at Tops-
ham, Me., in 1721. near Merrymeeting Bay.
Major Gen. Wm. Lithgow died Feb. 16, 1796,
and was buried at Georgetown. He was un-
married, and was in the Revolutionary Army
at Tlcor deroga. Arthur Lithgow, youngest

son of Judge Lithgow, was sheriff of Kenne-

bec in 1799. He wed Martba, daughter of

Edmund Bridge, of Pownalboro, Me., and had

six children. Sarah Lithgow wed Sam'l
Howard, son of the captain of Fort Western,

and brother of Wm. Howard of Fort Halifax.

Lieut. Howard was the first representative to

the General Court from Hallowell, Me. He

Western in 1810. at the age of seventy.

dore Edward Preble, and grandfather of Ad-
miral Geo. H. Preble, U S. Navy. He died
in 17 4, aged 77 years. The Proble family of
Portland are the descendants of Col. Jede-
diah Preble.
