These are quotes taken from Mike Kennedy's first letter to his family from captivity. There are quotes to Mark, Louisa, Mike's parents, and Maise and Sandy.
There is also a quote about his life as a public servant and that he has no bitterness about what is happening.

The notes are written in pencil on yellow legal pad paper. There is an arrow which extends from one inch from the top of the page to 2.5 inches from the bottom of the paper.  The envelope is pale blue with "Quotes from Mike's first letter Tehran 1979" written in blue ink on the front. 
There are a number of tears on the right side of the paper along the crease lines.
