Sailing the Maine Coast

The coast of Maine is made up of over 4,600 islands, depending on the tide, the weather, and who you ask. Some are mountainous, some are merely rocks poking out at low tide, some are inhabited, most are not, but all are fascinating to me. Of these 4,600(+/-) islands, I have chosen to explore the possibility of visiting five of them by sail for my senior project, through the planning lens of GIS.

My senior project is the complete refit of a 1966 Bristol 27 sailboat, Gentoo. After 2 years, she is finally ready for the sea, and ready for a voyage. This story map is a potential plan, a digitization of weather routing, and a way to share my passages with others who are interested in doing the same thing. Below are some photos of the project, the boat, and the crew that have helped out.
