Dear Louise [sic]: On behalf of Gaby and I and all your good friends at the Club, who remember you with much fondness, on and off the courts, I want to tell you that you and Mike are daily in our thoughts and in your tribulations. It came as a shock to us that Mike was in Tehran, as the last news we had from you was to say he was in Beirut. I wonder if you ever received my letter ans- wering yours. I am optimistic as to the outcome of this awkward and unnerving situation. All this goes to prove in how many direc- tions human behaviors in- fluenced by various leaders and how the [[?]] problems are multiplied by inhuman behavior. This is a greeting's card and it is not the time to philosophize but I did want you to know how [[?]] we have all felt over your problem and hope that Mike's is well and keeps well and that in the end it will just be one more ex- perience to recount in the later years. The Club is not much changed. As always, some players have left and new ones arrive, but none of them have enriched the standard of the game. I think that the general atmosphere was far better before, but who am I to give such an opinion. Its been a queer spring, as had very late rains this winter, mostly in September, then October very rainy and warm, but November has been surprisingly , [[?]] dull [[?]], quite a bit of rain, all of which is most unusual here. Well, Louise [sic] may your Christmas be full of optimism and Christian strength and good blessings, and may the New Year bring wisdom and understanding and faith to all.
