COA Pilot Summer Program

An experimental pilot program brought 13 students and 4 faculty members to the college to test and evaluate certain aspects of the proposed curriculum. Students has a range of interests and backgrounds, which supported the program's interdisciplinary nature. Participants in the summer program worked together in a multidisciplinary workshop focused on hands-on work, and joined the staff and trustees in raising and answering questions about the future direction of the college.

The students who attended the summer pilot program were: John Gray Cox, David Paine, Diane Pierce, Becky Koulouris, Alex Paine, Bill Jane, Jill Tabbutt, Maggie Finn, Edd Geissler, Mary Macul, Holly Russel, Christopher Pax and Pat Jennings. They were joined by 4 faculty members. Bill Carpenter and Sam Eliot taught literature, Glen Paulson taught environmental sciences and Francis Singleton taught political science. In addition to each of their classes, students participated in a workshop on 'The Future of Bar Island.' Various speakers were also invited over the course of the summer.
