Woman sitting by grist mill, Somesville

Grist mill in Somesville on rocky Somes Brook. Trees surround mill. Young woman sits on a rock near brook; she wears long light colored skirt and blouse and a flat hat. Caption under photo, “I suppose you know this girl. Why don’t you write? R.J.L.” Marked on back, “Grist Mill at rear was built 1790 if not earlier.” In reference to woman, “Nellie Freeman family from Pretty Marsh and Summit, N.J.. She came to take care of Baby Arthur in N.J., 1910 (Virginia’s Brother)” referring to Virginia Sanderson.
