Paul Stubing indicated that the "Sylvina W. Beal" was out of Lubec. He went on to say that this vessel was a "shape 4". He suggested that she was hauled in wartime. Paul continued to give information about the rest of the picture. He said the outside white boat on the left was Sim Davis'. The dragger next to it was built by Southwest Boat Corp. The building in the middle is Manset Marine Supply (former coal house). The building on the right was the former Beal's wharf. According to James Warren's "Maine Sardine Industry History 1875.2000", the "Sylvina W. Beal" was affiliated with the Seacoast Canning Co. of Eastport and the R.J. Peacock Canning Co. of Portland. She was built in 1911 in East Boothbay, Maine. Her length was 71.7 and depth 7 ft. Her gross ton was 48 and her net ton was 22. Ralph said the "Sylvina Bea"l is now in Eastport and was refurbished in one of the buildings owned by the Boat School. She is sailing parties on Pasmaquoddy Bay and is rigged as a schooner now. Ralph Stanley said he doesn't know what Paul meant by "shape 4". The "Hornet" is off SW Boat Corp and the large dark hulled vessel by her is the "Baby Rose". The lobster boat by the "Sylvina Beal" was owned by Clifford Stanley and was built by Les Rice on Cranberry. The boat at the Town Dock is the "Rosemary" out of Greening Island. The boat behind her ( you can just see the white shelter and hood) was Ralph's father's boat. She was built in 1931.
