CLASSIFICATION: SB The above named applicant has requested that the U.S. Environment Protection Agency revoke and reissue the current NPDES permit for the Town's main treatment plant. The EPA shall combine the Town three NPDES permits to discharge into one permit. The facilities are engaged in collection and treatment of municipal wastewater The discharges are the effluent from 1.2 Million Gallon per Day (MGD), 0.012 MGD, and 0.065 MGD secondary wastewater treatment plants. The Draft Permit includes sludge testing requirements consistent with 405 (d) of the Clean Water Act. PREPARATION OF THE DRAFT PERMIT: The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, (EPA) and Maine Depart of Environmental Protection have cooperated in the development c: draft permit for the above identified facility. The effluent and permit conditions imposed have been drafted to assure that Water Quality Standards and provisions of the Clean Water Act be met. EPA has formally requested that the State certify the permit pursuant to Section 401 of the Clean Water Act and expect that the draft permit will be certified. The sludge conditions implementing section 405(d) of the CWA are not subject to the 4 certification requirements.
