letters regarding construction of house for Randolph, Bar Harbor Me
Ellsworth, Me. May 21st, 1903.
L. B. Deasy Esq.,
Bar bor, Maine.
Bro. Deasy :-
Your letter of the 19th inst received, advising that the
Randolph heirs are about to build a wall along the line of Union Avenue,
etc.
I have tried to reach Miss Pendleton or her brother at Bar
Harbor, but find neither of them are there. I learn by telephone to
Mr. Grant, in the employ of Mr. Edmund Pendleton, that the latter is ex-
pected here the 31st of May. I sincerely hope that until Mr. Pendleton
arrives, nothing may be done about the construction of the proposed wall.
Will you kindly let us know if matters cannot just as well be delayed
until Mr. Pendleton's arrival?
Upon looking at my files I find that I wrote you on October
17th, 1902 and never received any reply thereto.
We have made in this office some investigation of recorded
deeds etc. but I have not yet been able to satisfy myself thoroughly as
to the true location of the east line of Union Avenue, and I am awaiting
the return of Miss Pendleton or her brother before continuing this work.
At this writing, I do not feel certain that I understand just where you
claim the true location of the east line of Union Avenue to be. In the
absence of my clients and in order to protect their rights, I must of
course, and do, protest to anything being d one in the nature suggested by
the Randolph heirs which by any possibility Miss Charlotte Pendleton, or
her brother, Mr. Edmund H. Pendleton, may claim to be within the limits
of Union Avenue.
Kindly let me know if matters cannot be delayed until Mr.
Pendleton's arrival. In the meantime I will try and see if I cannot
reach him by letter.
Yours very truly,
(Signed)
H. E. Hamlin.
P. S. Not having received any reply from you whatever in answer to our
letter of October 17th, 1902, we supposed all these matters were to stand
in abeyance until the parties interested arrived here this summer, for
the summer season.
