Condition of Competition
CONDITIONS OF COMPETITION.
1.
The Board of Trustees of the Bangor Public Library pro-
poses to erect a Library Building to cost not over one hundred
and thirty thousand dollars ($130,000) on a plot of ground mea-
suring 295 feet by 220 feet on Harlow Street, between Prospect
and Spring Streets, in the City of Bangor, Maine, and to se-
lect an architect by means of a mixed competition.
2.
The Board has engaged as professional adviser Professor
F. W. Chandler, of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, to
aid them in formulating instructions to architects, in conducting
the competition, in making the award, and in other ways.
3.
The invitation to enter this competition is personal
to the architect invited, and the competitive drawings are to be
prepared by the competitor in his own office and without assistance
other than the usual force of his office. The invitation is not
transferable to a new partnership including an architect not
considered in this invitation.
4.
Designs will be received from the following architects
who have signified their desire to compete and have proved their
ability and sufficient experience through work already executed:

Messrs. Peabody & Stearns, 53 State St., Boston.
