Marshall Island lies where Penobscot and Blue Hill bays meet, between Swans Island and Ise au Haut. Marshall Island is also the name of an unorganized territory in Hancock County.The island is primarily forested. More than 10 sandy beaches are intermixed among its primarily rocky coast. The beach at Sand Cove is the largest.Marshall island was purchased by Maine Coast Heritage Trust in 2003 and 20004 to protect he undeveloped island, following development proposals. It is open to public visitation for recreation including camping, swimming, boating, huninting, and fishing.
