IMPORTANT -- HEAD NOW
To applicants for SUMMER. hotel or club license to sell spirituous and vinous
liquors.
You are requested to read carefully the following. It may save unnecessary
delay in obtaining your license.
The LICENSE PERIOD begins not earlier than May 1, and ends October 31, 1938.
The FEE for a HOTEL license is $300. for said period during the summer season,
in cities and towns having a population of 10,000 or more; and $150, in cities and
towns having less than 10,000.
The FEE for a CLUB license is $100, for said period during the summer season,
except "any club maintaining a public dining room and catering either privately or
for functions to a group not members of the club-, also any club with dining rooms
letting rooms to non-members, must pay the same fee as required by a hotel located
in the same municipality."
Section 25 of Chapter 237 of the Public Laws of 1937 reads as follows:
"Hearings on applications for liquor licenses. The municipal officers
or, in case of unincorporated places the county commissioners of the County
wherein such unincorporated place is located, shall hold public hearings for
the consideration of all applications for liquor licenses requiring their
approval by law, after giving public notice at the applicant's expense,
which shall be prepaid, by causing a notice stating name and business address
of the applicant and the time and place of hearing to be printed in a daily
paper published in the city or town in which the premises proposed to be li-
censed are situated, for at least 6 consecutive days prior to the date of
hearing; or, if no daily paper is so published, in a weekly paper published
in the county in which the prejises are situated, for 2 consecutive weeks
prior to the date of hearing."
You should see to it that the above quoted law is complied with. If not com-
plied with it will mean extra trouble for you and delay in obtaining your license.
As proper publication and hearing require some time you should bear this in mind
and present your application to the municipal officers of the city or town, or if
the premises for which license is desired are located in an unincorporated place
to the county commissioners, in ample time to complete this requirement before you
find yourself in actual need of the license.
Your APPLICATION must be on the proper form; all applicable questions answered;
and properly dated and signed.
Your application must be accompanied by a BOND for $1000. This bond must be
correctly executed, otherwise it will be returned. See to it that it is prperly
drawn, signed, witnessed and bears the proper seals.
The license fee must accompany the application.
