The Mount Desert Stanwoods
THE MOUNT DESERT STANWOODS
By: Cordelia Stanwood
NOTE: Prepared in 1946 by Cordelia Stanwood of Ellsworth.
The genealogy was prepared at the request of Edna
Hadlock for the use of Hugh (Buddy) Dwelley in a
high school project.
The paper notes (pg. 5) that Benjamin Stanwood was
Job's half-brother and might have built a cabin on
Little Cranberry Island as early as 1761 in
preparation for arrival of Job and his family a
year later. Also suggests that the Stanwoods were
friends of the Someses and probably related by
marriage to them.
There are two pages numbered 7 and they are
partially duplicative Edna Hadlock included a
note to Buddy Dwelley on the back of the final page.
