Nine photos of Boats and Wrecks at Islesford
This is a set of several photos of boatwrecks collected by Hugh Dwelley. It includes two photos of the schooner Don Parsons with a short description by Roy Bryant. It also contains several photos of the wreck of the Schooner Hogg.
Both the Don Parsons and Schooner Hogg landed on the beaches of Islesford within one day of one another in the great winter of 1923. They were harvested for coal by the locals. Some of the images of the Don Parsons display locals salvaging coal. The crew of the Don Parsons was rescued by the locals and the captain's dog was left with a local as a reward.
The photos were originally contributed by Reta Fernald.
The photos attached to this item are modern scans, and some include a digitally repaired variant. The digital repaired variants were created by Sophia Caldwell. They were done by hand with exclusively non-destructive and non-generative reparation techniques.
