An easy to follow, lightly used unmarked trail with extensive steps and cairns. This summit route forks off of current marked Ladder Trail (#64) just before it intersects with Schiff Trail (#15). Immediately begins to cross granite ledge, then follows cairns (some cairns definitely not historic) through pine and brush and with some narrow steps (more for guidance than ascent) that wind up around big boulder. After several blueberry bush patches granite ledge opens to fantastic historic steps and coping – many in good condition – steps curve around to follow ledge contours. Stepping area roughly 1.5' to 2t wide and relatively stable, though some even smaller and more narrow steps are slipping or loose. Over another ledge and through more pines more steps and coping are found, then trail becomes less defined. Dorr South Ridge Trail (#21) is easily intersected if one cuts straight up from the steps and coping – summit is still several minutes away to the north. SB, MB
