A. Murray Young Path, Acadia National Park, Hancock County, ME
A. Murray Young Path (ANP trail #25) is a long, gradually ascending, highly crafted, memorial endowed woodland trail that travels up the south gorge between Cadillac and Dorr Mountains, starting from the Canon Brook Path (#19) to the intersection of the Gorge Path (#28) and Dorr West Face Trail (#44). The tread has some bench cut sections, two to three feet wide, with long sections of stone pavement built by Bar Harbor Village Improvement Association (BHVIA).  Near the south end of the trail at the step-stone stream crossing, a circa 1924 stone plaque is mounted on a large boulder, with the inscription: "In Memory of Andrew Murray Young, who loved this island where God has given of his beauty with a lavish hand. 1861 to 1924.” The trail originally went on the east side of the stream in this area. A 1974 reroute halfway up the trail moved it to the west side of the stream due to beaver flooding. In 2011 the trail was returned to its original route with extensive repairs.
