Descending Sargent North Ridge trail right after abrupt left turn, turn right along Chasm Brook. Occasional cairns lead to open ledges until another trail coming from 526 (Aunt Bettys Pond Trail) crosses Chasm Brook Trail. Cairns indicate to cross brook and lead up to old stone wall and foundation. Cairns quickly disappear heading north. Two cairns are in brook bed quite a bit further down, then possible set of steps. Nothing more but faint indications of big slabs set in brook trail – looks like rock paving. A few more cairns in brook lead across east/west (brook right to brook left) and then peter out near Southwest Valley Rd. Trail appears to parallel brook to west for a ways. Follow Southwest Valley Road west to carriage road 15-20 meters east to Seven Sisters Carriage Road 5-10 meters. Following Southwest Valley Road west, see cairns marking 526 (15 minutes from Chasm Brook). Follow north to carriage road - only two cairns – very faint trace of trail from carriage road. One cairn across road. Trail turns to right across carriage road – another cairn is way off in woods away from big wetland (there is another section of this trail extant leading from northwest corner of Aunt Betty Pond). One can follow 526 (cairned and cut in the last 10-15 years) to upper carriage road where it arrives at lower carriage road switchback. Top stone of cairns often points direction of trail. Follow carriage road right to switchback – see cairn off to right – continue up to carriage road again. Hard to follow near upper part. CJ (SB)
