The Bald Peak Trail (ANP #62) is 1 mile in length up and then over Bald Peak. The trail begins from the Hadlock Brook Trail (#57) 0.2 miles east of ME Route198. Going northerly almost immediately it crosses a carriage road and then goes along the Wildcat Valley watershed under mixed woods canopy. The trail becomes steep and crosses a second carriage road in 0.2 miles. The next half mile is over mostly open ledges to the summit of Bald Peak with fine views all around. The trail dips steeply down northwest into the saddle between Bald Peak and Parkman Mountain, ending at Parkman South Ridge Trail in 0.2 miles, with Parkman Mountain summit, 0.1 mi. to the north. The Bald Peak trail forms a popular loop with the Parkman Mountain Trail (#59) from ME Route 198. Bald Peak Trail has no constructed features other than “Bates style” cairns.
