Mary Black residence, State Street, Ellsworth, Hancock County, ME
William and Abbie Black lived in a house on State Street that was used for town offices during construciton of Ellsworth City Hall (1934-35), after a 1933 fire destroyed the old city hall. It was adjacent to the new structure, across from the County Courthouse. Their daghter Mary H. Black is identified as the owner of the house by Darlene Springer. "The house remained on the western end of the new city hall lawn for some time after the new hall was built" (Springer, Darlene. The Great Fire of Ellsworth, 1933 [Aardvark Global Publishing], 2008. p. 113.]. The building was demolished.
