Manuscript. Original deed for the sale of 39 of the pews (to 37 men) in Fisher's church. They were sold at "public vendue" on Sept. 11, 1797. Pew 23 was selected by Jonathan Fisher and does not appear in the deed. The deed is dated June 1, 1799. Signed by Reuben Dodge and witnessed by Andrew Witham and Simeon Foster. "To all whom these Presents may come: Know ye, that Sabin Pond, Jedidiah Holt, John S. Reub. Dodge, Robert H. Wood, Joseph Emmerton, Enoch Briggs, Maj. David Carleton, Phineas Osgood, Capt. Joseph Wood Jun., Nicholas Holt, Jonathan Ellis, Samuel, Stetson, John Roundey, Jun., Israel Wood, Obed Johnson, Samuel Brown, Daniel Spafford, Joshua Horton, John Peters, Daniel Osgood, Amos Allin, Seth Kimball, James Candage, John Carter, Peter Parker, Jonathan Darling Jun., Isaac Osgood, and Elisha Dodge bought at public vendue of the Town of Blue Hill in the County of Hancock & Commonwealth of Massachusetts on the 11th day of September A.D. 1797 thirty-nine pews on the lower floor of Blue Hill Meeting-house, in consideration whereof the ? Sabin and others herein named have duly paid into the Treasury of ? Bluehill two thousand and eighty seven dollars, as follows, viz. Sabin Pond for number thirty-six, fifty-six dollars . . ." etc. etc. In a black frame with glass. Unframed dimensions: approximately 19 1/2 x 22 1/2 inches
